Hi Everybody,

Merry Christmas from the States!

We were married at Alex Randall's place in October and fell in love with the island, as many do. We want to move to the island. We have a small farm in Pennsylvania we must sell first.

If anyone has a property or knows of a property that's for sale please let us know. We know they are far and few between, but just want to get the word out. Also, if anyone knows of a caretakers position, we would be interested.

Thanks so much and a big HELLO to Heidi, Brian and Joe's Beach Bar.

A big shout out to all those water islanders who repaired the islands only dinghy dock at phillips landing. This dock is a major access point to and from water island and is very important to a lot of water island residents and guest.

I hope the water island civic association can see the benefit in this project and make a donation to help pay for the materials that were used.

I know that the Goverment owns this dock but it is up to us to keep it in good repair, if not the goverment will just remove it and never replace it.

                                                     Respectfully submitted,

                                                    Edward F. Marin

Dear all

Greetings from the danish youngsters, who spend an afternoon on volunteer service painting the pavillion roof and doing beach clean-up on Limestone Beach. Some of the boys did the best they could on the roof, while a group went down to Limestone and filled 10 big bags with trash. Thanx to Kathleen, who helped finished off the trash at the dumping ground. HÖJSKOLENDK intend to make this a standard part of the program whenever we're on the Island.

Thank you to all of who showed us patience and forbearance after the mess we left on the initial party (-:

Thank you all for making Water Island such a great place to visit.

We're grateful for all you efforts.

Peace be

Claus Marquart

Maggie and I lived in the Blackburn house on catchment road in the late 80's and sold our house after Marylin. We miss it all the time. Best wishes to all who we knew then and who have continued the tradition of Water Island.

I would like to echo Joanne Bohr's, President of WICA, message on the "News" board about joining WICA.  WICA members demonstrate their personal commitment to enriching the lives of Water Islanders, guests of Water Islanders, and our extended communities by active participation.  WICA members build and maintain "bridges" of communication between Water Island residents and the USVI govt and thoughtfully plan, fund and implement those plans to improve Water Island.  I encourage everyone who calls Water Island their home (full time or part time) to act now and become a Member of this organization.

I spent a lot of time on Water Island back in the late 70's when I was the project manager for the reconstruction of the hotel for Ed McArdle.  It was an interesting experience but more than that, I fell in love with the Virgin Islands and Water Island.  We cruised these waters for about 10 years following that and will soon be spending all of our days there.

Regarding the news about the mail delivery.  The statement "

The supplier reports that a 60' boat will be put in service for mail delivery after it is cleared by the coast guard.

Surely they don't REALLY mean a SIXTY FOOT boat.  60'?

Spent a lovely afternoon on Honeymoon Beach after snorkeling with the Dancing Dolphin snorkel tour on Monday, July 13, 2009, from our cruise ship.  Was the highlight of my trip.  The water was so beautiful and warm, actually perfect.  Had a great BBQ lunch.  Would have loved to have seen more of the island and will hopefully one day come back.  Loved it!

Hi All;

We are back in the cold, gray northwest and everybody is telling us how wonderful it is because Spring has arrived. All I can say is it feels pretty darn cold to us. This was one of the coldest winters anybody can remember up here, it got down to 9 degrees above zero. Chris and I sure are glad we spent this winter on Water Island. We love it there an hope to return next winter. If anybody is in the Pacific Northwest please look us up. Our web site is www.carliwhalewatch.com.

I just heard the sad news about the passing of Shaf.

Your words are beautiful as is the photo of Shaf and Anne - flowers in hand - leaving Water Island in January.  I was privileged to have met him on my winter visits to Water Island and I loved his gentle humor and gracious manner.  I know this is a loss for Anne, his family, and all the many of us who got to know him while on Water Island.

My condolences to all,

Marita   (Joanne Bohr's sister)

I worked at Water Island Colony Club in 1973.  The island still looks great!  Miss Honeymoon Beach.  Did not recognize anyone in the pictures, but that was 35 years ago.  Sad to hear about Walter.  Look forward to coming down in Dec 2009 to see my son graduate from UVI.  Merry Christmas!   Dale DuBois  daleandchris@tm.net
