Hi, All of us "ole Timers" will miss "Shaff", our Water Island Greeter. Many Good Times were shared with the Shaffers, and their family, Ann, Lee, and Tom over the years when our off-springs grew up together. He is in a better place now watching over us.

I just heard the sad news about the passing of Shaf.
Your words are beautiful as is the photo of Shaf and Anne - flowers in hand - leaving Water Island in January. I was privileged to have met him on my winter visits to Water Island and I loved his gentle humor and gracious manner. I know this is a loss for Anne, his family, and all the many of us who got to know him while on Water Island.

From the moment we moved to Water Island full time, Shaf made us feel like we had been a part of the community for years. His warm and inviting demeanor made us feel welcomed. We loved talking with him and having him share memories of Water Island from the past. It is a great lose to us and to the community as a whole, as we mourn his passing. We know that he is healthy again and in a wonderful new place. We'll miss you Shaf!
